The Princish of Wales

inspired by Saveur Magazine


1 ounce Meyer lemon simple syrup
½ teaspoon maraschino liqueur
1 ½ ounces rye whiskey
¼ cup of champagne to top


1. To make the simple syrup: Combine 1 cup sugar and 2 cups water in a saucepan and add in the zest and juice of 2 Meyer lemons. Warm the mixture over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Keep in the refrigerator to use for other cooking activities.

2. To make the cocktail: Muddles the lemon syrup, maraschino liqueur, and whiskey in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake well, then strain it into a glass and top is with the champagne.
