1 | batch homemade pizza dough |
1 | large package of salami or pepperoni (at least 40 thin slices) |
1 | cup shredded mozzarella |
1 | egg |
1 | teaspoon water |
For the sauce:
1 | batch spicy tomato dipping sauce |
1. Preheat the oven to 400F. Roll out the pizza dough to a roughly 13×9 rectangle and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
2. Layer the pepperoni onto the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the dough. Layer the pepperoni as needed so they all fit. Scatter the cheese on top.
3. Whisk the egg and water together with a fork and brush the egg wash all along the border of the pizza dough. Roll up the dough lengthwise and press the seam into the dough at the end. Place the stromboli seam side down on the cookie sheet. Brush the tops with the remaining egg wash.
4. Bake it for about 20, or until the top is golden brown. Allow to cool slightly, slice into 1-inch rounds and serving with dipping sauce.
This is just like eating a rolled up pizza and can be really fun for kids or serving at a party. Try filling it with olives, roasted vegetables or just about any kind of cheese you can think of!

This was a huge hit in our house and stands among one of my husband’s new favorite weeknight dinners.
