Mother’s Day Breakfast(s) in Bed {Naptime Simple Tips}
I know it seems a little ironic that I, the mother, and giving you tips on how to celebrate Mother’s Day. But, I figure that either a) you reading this are not a mother and need ideas for the mother in your life, b) you need to give directions to your spouse or partner on how to make you breakfast in bed or c) you like breakfast in bed in general and are looking for new ideas.
No matter your reasons for reading I am glad you are here. I, for one, think breakfast in bed is a terrific way to celebrate Mother’s Day. It is always a fun activity for kids to participate in and breakfast food is simple and delicious to make. A lot of things can be made in advance too, so you don’t have to worry about getting up at 3:00am to start cooking. Here are my tips for how to celebrate Mother’s Day with breakfast in bed:
The French Toast Route:
Make-ahead French Toasts are a fantastic way to celebrate breakfast. I’ve made this dish several times the day before and baked it the next morning. Serve a slice with warm maple syrup, hot coffee and a fresh wedge of melon for a sweet breakfast.
The Pancake or Waffle Route:
Always a hit with both kids and adults, a gorgeous stack of pancakes never disappoints. Make some easy malted pancake mix the night before or just use a good mix you find at the store. Drizzle a hot stack with fresh berry sauce or chocolate chips for an ideal breakfast treat.
Great Pancake & Waffle Recipes:
Cottage Cheese Pancakes with Blood Orange Syrup

The Baked Goods Route:
Not all breakfasts have to be served piping hot right out of the oven. A pretty basket of warm muffins or scones with jam are a wonderful breakfast treat everyone loves. When I serve scones I often place a few strips of bacon or ham on the side for a salty bite to compliment the sweet.
Tasty Breakfast Bake Goods Recipes:
Browned Butter Rhubarb Muffins
Apple Bread with Cinnamon Sugar
The Eggs Route:
A simple omelet or egg burrito always hits the spot when a more savory egg breakfast is desired. Quiche is very simple to make the night before and rewarmed for breakfast. Or, make it in the morning and serve it for an easy lunch. Of course, never underestimate the perfect of a homemade egg sandwich: fried egg, bacon and cheese on an English muffin is always heavenly.

I’m going out to brunch but if I were gonna be home, I’d want those cinnamon scones for sure!
