Favorite Things June 2011 {Naptime Simple Tips}
Every so often I like to take a break from recipes to share some of the things I’ve been enjoying on the web recently. These are sites and products, both food related and otherwise, that have been catching my eye and I think you might enjoy as well. Have a great weekend, I’ll be back next week with some great recipes and a fun food theme!
Gilt Taste, the newest addition to Gilt Group, features fabulous food related articles and is being edited by Ruth Reichl. It is also home to a beautifully cultivated fine foods market. Wagyu Beef shipped straight to my door for Father’s Day? Yes, please!
Being a devoted naptime canner, I love Aimee’s article on Simple Bites about preparing for canning season. She has assembled the perfect checklist for canners this year. It is a must-read for anyone — experienced or not — ready to preserve summers gorgeous produce.
I’ve often dreamed of living like India Hicks, barefoot in the sand, letting my daughter run free on the beach after school each day. India’s blog is pure escape at it’s best. She documents her island life and globetrotting adventures with fun pictures and hilarious stories to boot. I am very much looking forward to the launch of her jewelry line.
My latest food blog obsession is What Katie Ate. Her feminine photography and enticing recipes from down-under create a warm aesthetic without being pretentious. I bookmark her travel posts by the dozen; I think I ought to book a trip to Australia soon.
My friend Barbara introduced me to Patricia of PVE Design many years ago and I’ve become obsessed with her dreamy sketches and watercolors. Her gorgeous blog always inspires me to live an artful life each and every day.
A longtime fan of Sara Moulton on TV, I came to love her even more after I met her in real life. Check out this awesome video of Sara, Amanda and Merrill on Food52. They whip up a surprisingly easy Rice, Radish & Snap Pea Salad with Seared Beef from her new cookbook. Yum!
Little Brown Pen and I share two passions: color photography and cheese. While I indulge both on occasion, LBP does so daily. Her Paris Color Project showcases her home city in color themes making it seem like the most colorful place on earth. Last winter she started documenting a new cheese per week, discussing the meals she made with it and her thoughts on flavor and food pairings. Always fun to see what fellow cheese lovers are enjoying these days.
Ever since Meghan’s shower I’ve been obsessed with putting raspberries in my favorite Prosecco. Such a refreshing summer beverage!
What are your favorite things on the web recently?
Woot! Thanks for the mention, Kelsey. And fantastic round-up here.
What a great list. I love Sarah Moulton too! 🙂
