The Family Calendar Cookbook & Henckels Giveaway!
I am so happy to be kicking off July with a really awesome giveaway: a Zwilling J.A. Henckels Pro 8-piece block knife set!
While this might seem a little unusual for me, here is why I want to give on of these away. I have a set myself and I LOVE these knives. They slice through everything I am cooking beautifully, are nice and sturdy to hold, and are easy to maintain. This set also contains all of my favorite knife styles, including a serrated knife and a Santoku. We use them for just about everything and I’ve never been let down.
Here is how you can enter to win a knife set AND a signed copy of The Family Calendar Cookbook!
1) Share what you use knives for in the summer (cut meat, slicing cake, watermelon?)
2) Follow Kelsey Banfield on Facebook.
3) The contest runs from July 8th at 7:00am through July 15th at 7:00am. The winner will be announced in the July 17th newsletter. Good luck!

We use our knives for everything in the summer!! I love to make soup and chop, chop, away on all of my vegetables to add to my soup. These knives would be a welcome addition to my chopping block. Just had frozen watermelon roll last evening and a knife was the only way to cut it. My family all have Henckel’s knives and I happen to have the serrated bread knife. I could sure use a complete set to go along with the new Family Calendar Cookbook!

Summer is all about cutting produce and chicken pieces for the grill. I also like to score hot dogs before grilling so they get lots of crispy edges!
I use knives for slicing green tomatoes to put on the grill, onions and peppers to cook in the skillet, fresh vegetables to use in a stir fry with leftover rice.

I think I use my knife (my one good knife, which I use for nearly everything) pretty much the same way all year round, except that in summer I also use it to prepare fruits for canning.

In the summer I use knives often to harvest chard, spinach, and lettuce from my garden, and to chop veggies for my stews and gravies, and to carve roasts and hams.
