I love the holidays and everything about it. As you can see by my homepage, I’ve been doing lots of Christmas cooking and baking. The season puts me so in the mood for sweets and over the top fun treats.
Earlier this month Rice Krispies and The Motherhood contacted me about participating in the Rice Krispie Treat Recipe Box Challenge and generating a Rice Krispies Holiday Themed treat. I jumped at the chance since I love working with both companies. I was even more excited when they told me I could giveaway a $100 Visa Gift card, see official rules below. My goal was to do something create something fun and wintery, but make it manageable enough for me to do with my daughter.
Since we decorated our tree last week it seemed fitting that we do a tree themed treat. I made some cone shapes out of heavy construction paper and stuffed them with the warm Rice Krispie treats. Then I let them cool into shapes before setting them up in a field of marshmallow snow. Then we used some tubes of icing to make green stripes and decorate them with cinnamon candies. It was a simple and fun project that made a delicious wintery treat for the whole family.
How will you get creative with Rice Krispie treats this season? Do tell. Share a comment below and follow the rules below to enter to win a $100 Visa Gift Card courtesy of Rice Krispies!

So cute!! I thought if I added PB to the plain old squares I was getting fancy … ha!! You bloggers have done awesome!
We like to make rice krispie treats but instead of making them square we use cookie cutters and make different holiday shapes and then decorate them with sprinkles and M&M’s. Sometimes we cut the shapes into squared and triangles and make little “krispie” houses to decorate also 🙂

I am not creative, but if I am going to get ‘wild’ I will slap peanut butter on a frozen banana and roll in Rice Krispies.

I love to make rice krispies with some almonds and chocolate!!
I like to make rice krispies with peanut butter
I like the original, well almost. I add chocolate and walnuts
We aren’t very creative, and we usually just make the basic ones, although sometimes we put sprinkles on top. I like the idea of making them into shapes, maybe we’ll try that this year.
My favorite way to get creative with Rice Krispie Treats, is to make fun kid shapes – like bugs, animals, flowers. Makes eating the yummy treats even better!
I wish I was as creative as some of the bloggers. The trees look awesome! I usually just make rice krispie treats and drizzle them with chocolate.

The most creative I have been is to add peanut butter and crushed almonds on my rice krispies and make a balls out of them. This Christmas, I will try to make colossal candy canes, I found the recipe here: http://www.ricekrispies.com/recipes/colossal-candy-canes.aspx#/recipes/colossal-candy-canes

My son loves them with M&Ms mixed in.
I confess, I don’t usually take the time to get creative. I’m usually in such a hurry to devour the delicious Rice Krispie Treats (the original recipe is my favorite), that I just eat them as soon as they’re made. I’ve found lots of good ideas from the very clever and creative members of The Motherhood. I think my kids would really enjoy making some of these festive goodies. Thanks for the giveaway.

Crushed candy canes are the perfect addition to the original recipe!
For my boys’ birthday, I made them a dinosaur cake, and of course it needed a volcano! So I made one of rice krispies. I used a large funnel, stuffed it with rice krispie treats and once they cooled, I placed it on top of the cake, iced it with brown frosting and piped red lava. It was perfect!
Congrats Kelsey! They look awesome!!! 🙂 Merry Christmas!
I love putting melted chocolate on the top of rice krispie treats – YUM!
