Dad Food & Father’s Day Giveaway {Naptime Entertaining}

Burgers

I love my Dad, he is one of the most special people in the world to me. I am sure many of you feel the same way about your fathers too. When it comes to celebrating Father’s Day I like to break out what I consider “Dad Food.” Mother’s Day is all about sweet breakfasts in bed, Father’s Day is all about hearty fare, grilled dishes and stick-to-your-rib hot sandwiches. It is not that my Dad, or my husband for that matter, are overeaters, but they do eat differently than I do. I prefer lighter dishes and sweat breakfast, while they always prefer a savory, more substantial meal.

To help you with your Father’s Day cooking I am going to give you some great tips today, and a great new Dad Food recipe tomorrow. Today I am also throwing in Anolon Nouvelle Copper 10-inch Skillet for a fun giveaway. This new skillet is made of fast and even-heating hard-anodized aluminum with a durable metal-utensil safe nonstick interior and allows you to flip omelets and pancakes effortlessly everytime. It is even oven safe to 400ºF. Now, wouldn’t Dad love one of those? Yes, he would! Read on.

– Burgers Stuffed with Chive-Parsley Butter: Burgers are almost always a hit with Dad and this decadent recipe is bound to become an instant classic. I mean, who doesn’t want a burger stuffed with herbed butter?!

– Walnut-Tarragon Chicken Salad: Pile this delicious salad onto a fresh baguette or slices of toast for a great Dad sandwich!

Lemon Pudding Cake

If You are Thinking Dessert…

Peppermint Patty Brownie Sundaes: Take these minty brownies and top them with a scoop of ice cream, rivers of chocolate sauce, clouds of whipped cream and plenty of sprinkles. Dad will love it!

– Chocolate Chip Coconut Oatmeal Cookies: These fabulous cookies are great to take to work, eat at home or even fill with ice cream to make sandwiches.

I’m thousands of miles from my father, but I plan to video chat with him, then go on to honor him with one of his favorite turkey burgers. Perhaps a favorite rose to go with.

    Cheers,

We will be at the lake with my parents; Father’s Day always coincides with my father’s birthday on the 16th. There will be beer, horseshoes and something on the grill, not in that order.

This father’s day we’re probably going to celebrate with a potluck at our house with all of my relatives! It’s usually a really exciting event with so much delicious home cooked food, I just can’t wait! 🙂

  10. Elsa says:

My beloved Dad died a few years ago. Even though we never made a big deal over Father’s Day or Mother’s Day in my family, it does leave a little emotional ding when it comes around.

I’m thinking that this Father’s Day, I might just stay home and make omelets (one of Dad’s favorite dishes). And I might invite over a couple of loved ones, a mother and daughter who recently lost their husband and father. Just a relaxed, pleasant late supper: omelets, a simple salad, and a glass of wine to toast absent friends.

  11. Schmidty says:

We’re going to hang out on the deck and cook some steaks, have some good conversation, and maybe, just maybe, someone will bring a dobashe cake for dessert. 🙂

  12. Nancy says:

We’re just planning to spend the day at our neighborhood pool and then go home to enjoy burgers on the grill ( I’ll be doing the sweaty labor), potato salad, and broc. slaw.   And now, I’m planning on making your peppermint brownie sundaes for a special finishs to the meal!   Thanks!
