Whole Foods Ice Creams + Ice Cream Maker & Gift Card Giveaway!
We have weather two mega heatwaves so far this summer and it is only the end of July. Eeps! To get me through I’ve been turning on the oven very little and only using the stovetop as needed. There has been a lot of gazpacho, sandwiches, and ice cream on our dinner table. Yes, the ice cream has been put right on the table alongside our dinner because it is practically part of the main course when it is so hot out. I am still trying to lose the very last of the baby weight, but that doesn’t mean I still can’t enjoy a small scoop at the end of the meal. I just tell myself it is in the name of staying cool.
So, where has our ice cream been coming from? Easy – Whole Foods or my own ice cream maker! I LOVE making homemade ice cream because I have complete control over the ingredients. However, sometimes I don’t plan ahead and when we want ice cream immediately I need to buy it. Earlier this month Whole Foods brought me some of their latest offerings and we had a blast trying them. There were so many good flavors!
Included in the package was Phin & Phebes‘ Banana Walnut Ice Cream, Van Leeuwen’s Ginger Ice Cream, Steve’s Sunday Morning Ice Cream (Maple with Waffle Bits), Maple’s Chocolate Gelato, Blue Marble’s Vanilla Ice Cream, and ISKream’s Sugar-Free Java Chip. All of these companies are local to the greater New York area and use ingredients from local producers and dairies. Love it!
Of all the ice creams the Ginger Ice Cream was my daughter’s favorite. She adored the warm spicy custard and bits of candied ginger. My husband loved the Banana Walnut and topped it with whipped cream to make it taste like a true banana split. I was completely enamored of the Maple Ice Cream with Waffle Bits. Waffles are one of my favorite breakfast foods so who wouldn’t love them crushed up into ice cream made with real maple syrup. It was seriously swoon-worthy.
To encourage you to support your local creameries and try out some new flavors Whole Foods is generously giving away a $25 gift card to their store. I am pairing this with one of my favorite ice cream accessories of the summer: an ice cream maker (!) to make this the complete ice cream giveaway. Come by and enter to win!

Did all of the above, [email protected]. The Sunday Morning sounds yummy (I love maple anything!), but whenever confronted with and poring over tons of flavor options forever (at the store or in an ice cream parlor), I always fall back on my all-time fave Vanilla, so I’d probably reach for the Blue Marble. Good luck, all! 🙂
