Holiday Check-In: Giveaways, Gifts Guides & Travel Tips {Naptime on the Road}
I thought it would be a fun idea to take a break from recipes today and do a little “check-in.” That is the term I use at home when I want to step back and assess a situation that seems to the focus of my days at that particular moment. Here is my check-in for today: how is your holiday cooking going? Is all your shopping done? What are your travel plans this season? Here are the answers to those questions on my end and a few last minute gifts and tips for holiday travel with kids.

Christmas Shopping Check-In:
So far I’ve purchased nearly everything but need to concentrate on stocking stuffers for everyone. In the spirit of last minute gifting here are a few things that would be GREAT gifts for the foodie on your list-
Jeni’s Ice Cream Sublime Holiday Collection looks ah-mazing and ships anywhere. Can you imagine how impressed your friends will be when you serve up some Frankincense & Almond Cake ice cream?! I love her book, too.
I know I am beating you over the head about the Cookies’ For Kids Cancer Cookbook & OXO Good Cookie Spatula, but they are really that awesome and support a great cause.
Ever since Duda Farm Fresh Foods sent me a tote of Meyer lemons I’ve been using them like crazy. A tote of these golden beauties would be an ideal holiday gift for your friends and family. (Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for them here!)
I am dreaming about this casual waxed canvas tote , it would be the perfect gift for the farmer’s market shopper in your life.
I am slowly collecting Compo De’ Fiori Pots and these artichoke ones are a particular favorite. They make stylish gifts for the any gardener.
Can you imagine how much fun it would be to cut up your watermelon with this cool knife?
Amagansett Sea Salt is my new favorite local-ish brand. My friend Barbara gave me a tiny glass jar for my birthday and I can already envision myself hoarding it next summer when I visit the Hamptons.
This has absolutely nothing to do with cooking but I have to include it because it is an absolute miracle cream. I read about it here and treated myself to a jar. I am addicted for life.
I was recently gifted this gorgeous tea and am totally in love with it. Any from this fine line would make a tasty stocking stuffer!
Weck Jars always make beautiful gifts, especially for a friend who loves to preserve or make homemade gifts in jars.
Christmas Travel Check-In:
Are you traveling with kids this season? If so, here are a few tips about what got us through our trip to Florida over Thanksgiving. Good luck!
– This amazing magnetic game was a huge hit with our daughter!
– The Leap Pad is now a big gift item and I know why: it is like kiddie crack. Our daughter ignores everything else when she plays it which is pretty much the ideal situation on an airplane.
– Animal tubes have become a big thing around here and, we’ve discovered, are really fun for kids to play with when strapped in car seats.
– Don’t forget the snacks! I pack her goodies in cool Thinkbaby containers.
Happy Holidays!
